NYC LL97 Deadlines Are Approaching

In 2019, New York City enacted Local Law 97 to drive deep

emissions cuts from buildings, which are responsible for more

than two-thirds of NYC's greenhouse gas emissions. The law places carbon caps on most buildings larger than 25,000 square feet—covering nearly 50,000 properties across NYC. Your hotel must begin compliance by May 1, 2025 and have substantially lowered its carbon emissions by 2030 or face significant fines and penalties

Be Proactive:

Avoid Becoming a Stranded Hotel

Recent data from the American Hotel & Lodging Association, UK based real estate investment services firm, Jones Lang LaSalle, and methodologies from the EU Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor, suggest that up to 40% of U.S. hotels could become stranded assets by 2030 if they fail to meet decarbonization benchmarks, potentially representing a stunning $140 billion in U.S. hotel real estate value at risk.
